The 2018-2019 FAFSA and the Boise State scholarship application are now open. Federal law allows students and parents to apply for financial aid earlier than ever, using income tax information from 2016.
No need to estimate income. Using actual 2016 tax information to apply and receive aid awards earlier, students can make more informed decisions with less stress.
More applicants will be able to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT), financialaid.boisestate.edu/handbook/manage-aid/verification/irs-data-retrieval/,to transfer 2016 tax information directly into the FAFSA. This means quicker FAFSA submissions, fewer errors and more accurate aid.
Submitting the FAFSA early, by Feb. 15, 2018, may qualify students for additional scholarships, work-study or grants, which may have limited available funds.
