Antonio Bustamante Listed Among Top Forwards in the Country

William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – In previewing the college men’s soccer season, Top Drawer Soccer released its top 10 forwards in the country on Friday, and William & Mary senior Antonio Bustamante was a prominent member of the group. A consensus All-American a season ago, Bustamante was named to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List on Thursday. Of Bustamante, Top Drawer Soccer said, “Capable of playing up front or underneath, Bustamante is an extremely intelligent player that finds space in and around the penalty area. He can pick a pass, finish a chance or link play and is one of the best in college soccer.” He enjoyed one of the top seasons in program history as a junior in 2017. Bustamante was named both the CAA and VaSID State Player of the Year and ranked among the top six in the nation in goals (15) and points (35). He finished 2017 ranked among the top 10 players in all of college soccer by Top Drawer Soccer. Bustamante scored a school-record four goals in a CAA quarterfinal win over Hofstra in 2017, before tallying a championship game hat trick against UNCW. He was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the CAA Tournament for his efforts. Bustamante enters his senior season with 30 goals and 70 points in 54 career games. He ranks fourth among active NCAA Division I players in points and fifth in goals. A member of the D.C. United Academy during his club career, he trained with the Major League Soccer organization’s first team over the summer.
