Antonio Bustamante Named to Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List

KANSAS CITY,  Mo. – For the second-straight year, William & Mary men’s soccer senior Antonio Bustamante was selected to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List, presented by World Wide Technology, the United Soccer Coaches and Missouri Athletic Club announced on Thursday. Bustamante was a consensus All-American last season leading the Tribe to its eighth Colonial Athletic Association Championship. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year’s winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. Bustamante was one of 32 players to be named to the Men’s Watch List and one of 10 that earned United Soccer Coaches All-America honors in 2017. Bustamante was one of only three players from Virginia universities on the watch list and the only native Virginian to be recognized. The Springfield, Va., native enjoyed one of the top seasons in program history as a junior in 2017. Bustamante was named both the CAA and VaSID State Player of the Year and ranked among the top six in the nation in goals (15) and points (35). He finished 2017 ranked among the top 10 players in all of college soccer by Top Drawer Soccer. Bustamante scored a school-record four goals in a CAA quarterfinal win over Hofstra in 2017, before tallying a championship game hat trick against UNCW. He was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the CAA Tournament for his efforts. Bustamante enters his senior season with 30 goals and 70 points in 54 career games. He ranks fourth among active NCAA Division I players in points and fifth in goals. A member of the D.C.
