Paul Fleischman, author of Seedfolks, will speak at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3 in the University Hall Theatre.
His visit is a follow-up to the Bayh College of Education’s fall book club that was part of the college’s Diversity, Inclusion and Global Engagement Task Force.
As part of the initiative established by Dean Kandi Hill-Clarke, the book club was opened to the entire college and nearly 50 faculty and staff members participated in the six-week activity.
Fleischman, a Newberry Award winner, will speak to early childhood education majors that morning and provide an open talk in the afternoon. Titled “Planting Seeds,” his talk will focus on the major themes in the Seedfolks book, including community gardening, experiences of immigrants, and cultural diversity. All members of the community are invited.
