Broncos Land Eight on CCAA All-Conference Teams

POMONA – With the release of the 2018 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Conference Baseball teams, Cal Poly Pomona was well represented with eight athletes named to the list. Leading the group was Nic Hernandez who was named First-Team All-CCAA at first base. Hernandez led the Broncos in most offensive categories, including batting average (.354), hits (67), RBIs (36) and home runs (8). Earning Second-Team All-CCAA was catcher Cody Martin and right-hander Ryan Alsworth. Martin appeared in 39 games, making 36 starts for the Broncos, hitting .299 on the season with 41 hits and 23 RBIs while successfully stealing 13 bases in as many attempts. Alsworth was the top starter for CPP, tossing a team-high 80 innings with six wins in 12 starts. He finished the regular season with a 2.59 ERA and striking out 67 batters The Broncos tallied five All-CCAA Honorable Mentions in freshman duo Drew Cowley (SS) and Cesar Lopez (OF), along with Matt Manskar (3B), Tim Holdgrafer (RHP) and Dylan Francis (RHP) CPP continues their season on Wednesday night as they open up the CCAA Postseason Tournament against Chico State at 7 p.m. Print Friendly Version
