POMONA — William Christmas scored a game-high 20 points on 7 for 11 shooting, leading the Cal Poly Pomona men’s basketball team to a 68-56 victory over visiting Cal State East Bay Thursday night at Kellogg Arena in Pomona.The Broncos snapped a three-game skid, rising to 6-4 overall and 4-4 in the CCAA.  The Pioneers suffered just their second loss in conference play, falling to 7-2 in the CCAA and 12-3 overall.After entering halftime trailing 35-33, the Broncos quieted the sharpshooting Pioneers in the second half and outscored them 35-21 (32-13 from the 16-minute mark on), holding CSUEB to a miniscule 27.3 percent from the floor on 6 of 22 shooting in the final 20 minutes.  Meanwhile, CPP connected on half of their 22 shots after the intermission to complete the 12-point win.Cal Poly Pomona also outscored Cal State East Bay 24-4 in points off turnovers as the Broncos took advantage of 16 Pioneer miscues; CPP gave up the ball 14 times.Two other Broncos joined Christmas in double-figures — Jordan Ogundiran and Riley Schaefer both chipped in with 10 points.  As a team, the Broncos ended the night shooting 44.2 percent on 23 of 52 from the hardwood as the Pioneers finished at 38.8 percent (19-49).  Both teams hit seven three-pointers.Juwan Anderson led Cal State East Bay with 18 points and Evan Wardlow added 12.Cal Poly Pomona returns to action Saturday night at 7:30 pm against Cal State Monterey Bay at Kellogg Arena.Print Friendly Version
