CEIS Announces New Associate Dean


Hend Gilli-Elewy, an associate professor in the Interdisciplinary General Education department, has been selected as associate dean of the College of Education and Integrative Studies.
Gilli-Elewy served as interim chair of the IGE department in CEIS as well as on several committees such as CEIS’s assessment and curriculum committees, the university’s General Education Committee and the Faculty Center for Professional Development Advisory Committee. Additionally, she has served as chair of the university’s GE Assessment Committee and co-chair of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges’ Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) workgroup on educational quality.
Hend Gilli-Elewy has been selected to serve as the associate dean of the College of Education and Integrative Studies.In her new role, Gilli-Elewy will work closely with the dean to carry out the objectives of the college. She will oversee student advising, assessment, planning and accreditation activities. She will also provide support to faculty and department chairs, and manage the day-to-day operations of the college.
“Dr. Gilli-Elewy’s combination of experience, knowledge and skills made her stand out among a group of excellent finalists for the position. She brings strong organizational abilities, great people-skills, and a deep knowledge of assessment to a position that requires them in abundance. She will be a great leader for CEIS,” said Dean Jeff Passe.
As a faculty member in the IGE department, Gilli-Elewy played a leading role in redesigning the program’s curriculum for semester conversion and collaborated closely with her colleagues to revise the courses. She has also served as the department’s assessment coordinator for many years. Also, Gilli-Elewy has chaired the IGE faculty search and Retention, Tenure and Promotion committees and has been a mentor for junior faculty.
Gilli-Elewy began teaching history on campus in 2000 and joined the IGE department as assistant professor in 2005. Gilli-Elewy holds a doctorate and a master’s …
