We also have established a call center for additional inquiries: 707-664-4390 or 707-664-4391.At approximately 5:53 p.m. yesterday, the Sonoma State University Police Department was informed that a male subject had been stabbed in the Sauvignon Village residential community. University Police and Fire Department personnel responded. Fire Department personnel determined at approximately 6:06 p.m. that the subject was deceased. A suspect was detained. Based upon the available information at that time, police determined there was no further threat to the student population and campus community.
The incident is under criminal investigation, which means that law enforcement will release information as it comes available. We will make every effort to keep the campus updated as information is released.
Is the campus safe?
Yes, the suspect is detained, and there is no threat at this time. The University has extra police officers staffed. Anyone who would like an escort on campus can contact University Police at 707-664-4444.
Is campus closed?
There is no evacuation needed as there is no threat to campus.
Is school canceled for Monday?
No, campus will be open, and classes will go on are scheduled.
Is Alicante open for students to return?
Residential halls are open without restriction and safe for students to return. The suite where the incident occurred remains closed.
