The Case Western Reserve University men’s tennis team finished the 2017-18 campaign ranked 18th in the final Oracle/ Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III rankings, released on June 5th.In addition to the national ranking, the Spartans were ranked seventh in the Central Region to conclude the season. CWRU senior James Fojtasek ended the campaign 22nd in the Central Region’s singles rankings, while teaming with sophomore Anthony Kanam to end the campaign eighth in doubles play in the region.Playing the entirety of the spring season as the team’s no. 1 singles player, Fojtasek went 11-14 overall, including an 11-12 mark in dual matches, while finishing his season with a 2-1 record at the UAA Championships. He completed his career fifth in school history in singles wins (64-44), and third in doubles victories (81-37). Kanam and Fojtasek combined for a 12-5 record together in 2017-18, including a 9-4 mark in first doubles contests and a 2-1 mark in UAA play.The CWRU men went 17-10 overall in 2017-18, while placing fifth in the University Athletic Association.
