BATON ROUGE – Professor V. Carlos Slawson Jr., a Professor of Finance at LSU, is the recipient of the 2018 Jacobs Professor of Excellence Award presented annually by LSU’s Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes.
Professor V. Carlos Slawson Jr. was recognized during the LSU versus Arkansas baseball game on Sunday, May 6.
“Dr. Slawson’s achievements’ through his scholarly research and his teachings within the classroom are clearly synonymous to the values that Jacobs espouses,” said LSU Assistant Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of the Cox Communications Center Kenneth O. Miles. ”It is with great pride and distinction that we, Jacobs and the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes, salute and recognize Dr. Slawson for his contributions.”
As the former Chair of the Department of Finance and current Associate Director of the Real Estate Research Institute, Professor Slawson has been instrumental in the overall growth of the Finance department by establishing programs for an Accelerated Masters and JD/MS. Professor Slawson is a key contributor to the increase of alumni involvement through the development of the Finance Academy and Finance Advisory Council. These programs help build relationships between current students and the Baton Rouge business community.
