FIU BVB Announces 2019 Schedule

MIAMI – FIU beach volleyball coach Rita Buck-Crockett announced the team’s 2019 schedule on Monday morning, a schedule that includes the Panthers hosting two events in South Florida, while returning to the prestigious East Meets West Invitational hosted by the defending NCAA national champion UCLA Bruins, in Manhattan Beach, California.Click here for 2019 schedule.”This schedule is exciting, but challenging, and is necessary to get us prepared for a chance at the CCSA Conference Championship, as well as the NCAA Championships,” said Buck-Crockett.The Panthers will start the 2019 campaign at the Stetson Spring Fling in DeLand, Florida, Feb. 22-23, before heading west to California for the East Meets West, March 9-10, at the Manhattan Beach Pier. FIU will open the first of its four matches in California against USC, followed by UCLA to close out the first day. The Panthers will then take on Hawaii and Pepperdine on March 10.FIU returns home to host the first of its two events in South Florida, the FIU Fort Lauderdale Tournament on March 15. The one-day event will pit the Panthers against Florida Atlantic, and then USC for the second time in a week.After a trip up Interstate 95 for the FAU Beach Bash in Boca Raton, March 23, FIU will return to its home beach to host the premier collegiate beach volleyball tournament on the east coast, the FIU Surf & Turf Invitational, March 29-30, on South Beach. On day one, the Panthers will face Stetson, Grand Canyon and LSU, before closing out the event against Tulane, NCAA national finalist Florida State, and UCLA for the second time during 2019.The Panthers will travel to Tallahassee for the FSU Invitational, April 5-6, before closing out the regular season with a single dual at Florida Atlantic on April 12.The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championships will take place in Emerson, Georgia, April 19-21, and the NCAA Championships will once again …
