FIU Golf Heads to C-USA Championships

FORT MYERS, Fla – The FIU women’s golf program will compete in the 2018 Conference USA Championships, held Monday through Wednesday at the Verandah Club in Fort Myers, Florida. The 54-hole event will feature three-straight days of 18 holes at the Old Orange Course. The Panthers will be paired with Florida Atlantic and UAB. The Panthers will tee off in the opening group at 8 a.m on 10th hole. The tournament will play with split tees, with some groups going off on the 10th hole each day. Pairings will reset after the first and second rounds, with the leading teams going off last from the first tee at approximately 8:50 a.m. The Panthers finished fourth at last year’s championships. The winner of the tournament will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals, though teams and individuals can earn at-large entries if selected by the NCAA golf committee. Senior Katerina Krasova (Ricany, Czech Republic) leads a young FIU squad into the C-USA Championships. Krasova has three top 30 finishes including a top 12 finish at the Charleston Invitational. She posted a 75.73 scoring average this season in 23 rounds while playing in all eight tournaments. Rounding out FIU’s top five for the championship are four freshmen –  Diana Andrade-Guzman, Agueda Cortilla-Mas, Hannah Leiner and Valentina Gilly. Live results links, through Golfstat, are posted on the front page of for each round. Print Friendly Version
