Game DetailsOld Dominion 75, FIU 74FIU (11-6, 2-2 C-USA), Old Dominion (12-5, 2-2 C-USA)Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 | 7 p.m.Miami, Florida | Ocean Bank Convocation Center The Basics- The FIU men’s basketball team got a game-high 28 points and 10 assists from Brian Beard, Jr. (Rancho Cucamonga, California) and 16 points from Trejon Jacob (Raleigh, North Carolina), but that was not enough as Old Dominion pulled the game out in the final seconds, defeating the Panthers, 75-74, at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center Saturday night. – With FIU leading by one, 74-73, with 20 seconds remaining, Old Dominion drove the length of the floor where Ahmad Caver had the opportunity to put the Monarchs on top, however missed the layup. Dajour Dickens picked up the offensive rebound and drove to the basket where he hit a twisting layup with 1.1 seconds on the clock for the game-winner, and only his second field goal of the night. The Panthers had an opportunity for a desperation shot, however could not get it off in time.   – In addition to Beard, Jr. and Jacob’s big numbers, Osasumwen Osaghae (Miami, Florida) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with nine points and six blocked shots. Devon Andrews (Lorain, Ohio) added nine points in the loss. – FIU trailed by as many as 11 points, twice in the first half, with the final 11-point margin, 41-30, coming with 3:20 left before the intermission. After ODU took a 43-37 lead into the locker room at the break, the Panthers came out in the second half and used a quick 6-0 run to tie the game, at 43-all, when Beard, Jr. hit the second of two free throws with 17:54 left.
