MIAMI (Oct. 11, 2018) – FIU swimming and diving freshman Maha Gouda was named Conference USA Diver of the Week, becoming the first league honoree of the 2018-19 season. The recognition for Gouda comes after posting a pair of first place finishes at the TYR Fall Classic Presented by Swiss Timing on Oct. 6 and qualifying for NCAA Zone in the 1-meter and 3-meter.
“Maha’s hard work and dedication from day one is showing. She is determined and is a great influence on the team,” said head coach Rio Ramirez.
The Alexandria, Egypt native, won the 3-meter diving event on the platform with a mark of 276.65 and finished first in the 1-meter A final with a score of 272.50 at the TYR Fall Classic home event last weekend. On Sept. 28, against crosstown rival Miami, she qualified for the NCAA Zone in the 1-meter and 3-meter after posting scores of 288.30 and 306.23, respectively.Click here for full C-USA Weekly superlative announcement.
The Panthers will be back at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center on Saturday, Oct. 13 for the Blue & Gold Alumni Intrasquad.
