Five Earn All-CCAA; Wegrich Coach Of The Year

2018 CCAA ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMSAN RAMON, Calif. — A program-record five Cal Poly Pomona volleyball players were named to the 2018 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Volleyball All-Conference Team, and head coach Rosie Wegrich was selected as the CCAA Volleyball Coach of the Year, highlighting Wednesday’s release of the conference’s annual postseason awards.  In addition to the All-CCAA Team announcements, senior Alex Bollier was voted the CCAA Libero of the Year and Kira Zimmerman earned CCAA Freshman of the Year honors.Capturing All-CCAA First Team honors are senior outside hitter Andrea Bosnic, senior middle blocker Kristen Hamlin and freshman setter Kira Zimmerman, while senior libero Alex Bollier grabbed an All-CCAA Second Team award and senior opposite side hitter Desi Martin earned an All-CCAA Honorable Mention nod.Wegrich, who is coaching her final season of collegiate volleyball after announcing her retirement in September, is enjoying one of her best seasons in her 44-year career on the sidelines, leading the nationally-ranked Broncos to a 21-4 overall record in 2018, matching the most wins for CPP since 2007.  It is just the eighth time in her 27 seasons at Cal Poly Pomona that her team has posted a 20-win season and she is on pace to take the Broncos back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 10 years.  This is her second-career CCAA Coach of the Year honor; Wegrich last earned the award when her 2005 squad went 24-3 overall and 18-2 in the CCAA, sharing the conference title with Cal State L.A.  In 44 seasons, Wegrich has built a 777-590-10 coaching record, including a 448-331 mark in 27 seasons at Cal Poly Pomona.Bollier, from La Habra, Calif., was the top libero in the CCAA in her final intercollegiate season, leading the conference with 5.26 digs per set and 442 total digs, both career-highs.  This is her first All-CCAA and first Libero of the Year honor.  Bollier is also …
