BATON ROUGE – Better execution on offense and continued improvement by the defense are some of the expectations for head coach Ed Orgeron when LSU goes through its second preseason game of training camp on Saturday in Tiger Stadium.
The scrimmage is set for 11:30 a.m. in Tiger Stadium. Orgeron will give a recap of the scrimmage to members of the media at 1:30 on Saturday afternoon.
“Execution,” Orgeron exclaimed when asked what he’s hoping to see the offense improve upon from a week ago. “We had way too many penalties – offsides and holding – which put us in some long yardage situations.
“We have to do a better job of catching the football. I think having only these two quarterbacks (Joe Burrow and Myles Brennan) scrimmage will help us out as far as execution is concerned. It will keep the intensity up on defense. The defense had an excellent scrimmage (last) Saturday. Then the offense handed it to us on Monday so we need to do it every day.”
After Saturday, the Tigers will have one final preseason game, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 25 in Tiger Stadium. LSU opens the 2018 campaign on Sunday, September 2 against Miami in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
LSU will take Sunday off from practice, but will have a film session and then take a team picture on Sunday afternoon in Tiger Stadium.
The first edition of the Ed Orgeron Show will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at TJ Ribs on Acadian Thruway. The radio show starts at 7 p.m. each Wednesday during the season, including the open date, and will be hosted once again by the Voice of the Tigers Chris Blair.
