GOLFWEEK CONFERENCE CHALLENGE IS FIRST TEST FOR MEN’S GOLF

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Golfweek Conference Challenge at Cedar Rapids Country Club will be the site of the first tournament of the season for the Sacramento State men’s golf team. The Hornets will open 2018-19 with a single round on Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT. The team will also play single rounds on Monday and Tuesday.Sacramento State’s lineup will consist of Eric Olsem, Landon Azevedo, Ethan Davidson, Jeff Carr and Riley Bell. Olsem and Carr were both fixtures in the lineup last season while Azevedo is slated to compete for the first time since the spring of 2017. Davidson and Bell are both true freshmen who will make their collegiate debuts.The Hornets competed at the Golfweek Conference Challenge last season and finished 15th. The team was led by then-senior Ash Patel who shot 70-72-71-213 to tie for 10th place. Olsem had the best score among returners at 73-78-75-226 to tie for 57th. North Carolina State won the team title at 274-286-287-847 to finish two strokes ahead of the host Hawkeyes.
