History Forum to Explore Issues of White Supremacy

The history department will present a forum “Monuments, Memory and White Supremacy: Historians Respond to Your Questions” on Monday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. in Old Chapel.The panel will be comprised of UMass Amherst and Five College history faculty who will explore these issues in U.S. and international contexts in a conversation organized around questions from students and community members.
Panelists are:

Alon Confino, professor of history and Jewish studies, Pen Tishkach Chair of Holocaust Studies, and director of the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide and Memory Studies at UMass Amherst

David Glassberg, professor of history and interim co-director of the Public History Program, UMass Amherst

Jon Olsen, associate professor of history and interim co-director of the Public History Program, UMass Amherst

Christopher Tinson, associate professor of Africana studies and history, Hampshire College

Alice Nash, associate professor of history, UMass Amherst

Brian Ogilvie (moderator), professor of history and chair of the history department, UMass Amherst
