HSU Volleyball Begins Practice for 2018 Season

ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State volleyball team began their two-a-day preseason practices in Lumberjack Arena on Monday. A total of 19 players took the court at 10:30 a.m. in preparation for the 2018 season which is less than three weeks away.The Jacks are coming off a 3-21 season with hopeful anticipation for the young team. With 13 underclassmen paving the way for the program this season, the Jacks will welcome new standouts such as Lenox Loving and Makayla Cervantes.”Our expectations are high for this season. We are coming off a really productive spring and the girls are highly motivated,” said Head Coach Kelly Wood. “The returning players have been extremely dedicated and the new girls bring a whole new level of depth to the team.”Senior Taylor Yancey will lead the team as a returner following her 2017 season during which she led the team with an average 5.33 assists per set. Alongside her was Lauren Reid, the Jacks leader in kills last season with 234.HSU will open its season against Pacific Union College in Rohnert Park, Calif. on August 23 at 2 p.m.
