Published on: January 23, 2012 Dancing and live entertainment are the highlights of Lone Star College-Kingwoods and the Kingwood Musical Arts Societys (KMAS) annual Valentine Scholarship Dance and Silent Auction on Feb. 11 from 7:30-11 p.m. The black-tie optional event will be held in LSC-Kingwoods Student-Conference Center.
“The Kingwood Musical Arts Society is proud to have such a wonderful partner as Lone Star College-Kingwood. This Valentine Dance is our annual opportunity to help LSC-Kingwood students as much as they regularly help us. By raising money to fund music scholarships, we help provide much needed funds so that these very talented students can continue their music education. We ask all to help us with this mission by donating generously,” said Don Pagel, chairman of KMAS board of directors and trumpet player in the Kingwood Big Band.
David Livingston, chairman emeritus of KMAS board of directors, remembers, We entered into this strategic partnership with LSC-Kingwood in 1996, which, over the years, has enabled us to increase musical exposure within the community.
The annual dance will feature entertainment from KMAS Kingwood Big Band. In addition to the entertainment, there will be a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, a dessert buffet and cash bar.
Originally formed by Lone Star College-Kingwood in the fall of 2004, the 18-member Kingwood Big Band includes college students, music educators, professional musicians, businessmen, engineers, doctors, professors, accountants and other professions from Kingwood and surrounding communities. This varied group is brought together by their love of jazz and their joy of performing great music to appreciative audiences.
General admission tickets to the Valentine Scholarship Dance and Silent Auction are $65 per person or $125 per couple. Table sponsorships are available at the following levels:
Friends and Sweethearts: $2,500 for a reserved table for eight
Hearts and Flowers: $1,500
