HOUSTON (Feb. 24, 2010) Future plans after high school graduation can be a daunting task to think about for some high school seniors and their parents. To give students and parents hope, Lone Star College-Kingwood will have its second Parent Night on March 9 beginning at 6 p.m.
The free event allows parents and prospective students a glimpse at which academic classes, student organizations, sports and other programs are offered at LSC-Kingwood.
The purpose is to create awareness about our campus and to educate prospective students and their parents about what our college has to offer and why they should make Lone Star College-Kingwood their college of choice, Chris Crumley, director of enrollment management, said.
Prospective students and their parents are asked to arrive early and check-in at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Fine Arts Buildings commons area. Attendees will receive a full campus tour from 6 to 7 p.m. and at 7 p.m., there will be an information session that will inform people about the colleges academic and workforce programs, admissions, outreach and recruitment initiatives, financial aid, student life and activities, and the dual credit program. Light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited; please R.S.V.P. at http://www.lonestar.edu/recruiting-kingwood.htm.
In addition to those activities, we will also give out door prizes and each student/parent will receive a full packet of information about the college, Crumley said. This event benefits the community by raising awareness about our campus and educating them to what programs and services we have to offer.
