Local residents interested in learning more about free and low cost services provided by non-profit organizations are encouraged to attend CommUnity Resources Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lone Star College-Tomball Beckendorf Conference Center.
Representatives from the areas of health, social services, education, recreation, employment and financial assistance will be on hand to share information on how to take advantage of what the communities of Tomball, Magnolia and Waller have to offer, said LSC-Tomball Program Outreach Coordinator Irene Gutierrez-Briggs.
There will also be fun activities for the family. Representatives from the Houston Dynamo Major League Soccer organization will be on hand, and the LSC-Tomball Chess Club will be giving instructions for visitors to learn to play chess (or just to enjoy a game). There will also be a moonwalk and face painting.
Developed through the LSC-Tomball Hispanic Outreach Committee, which consists of college, community, church and business representatives, the resource day is sponsored by LSC-Tomball in partnership with the Tomball, Magnolia and Waller Chambers of Commerce; the cities of Tomball, Magnolia and Waller; and the Tomball, Magnolia and Waller Independent School Districts.
