Men’s Basketball Hosts Pair of CCAA Contests Starting Thursday

ARCATA, Calif. – Coming off a stretch during which Humboldt State has won three out of its last four games, the men’s basketball team faces off against Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino at home this week as it continues in CCAA play. The games will be Thursday and Saturday, respectively, and both will tip at 7:30 p.m.”We’re very excited about our locker room chemistry right now,” said Lumberjack Head Coach Steve Kinder. “It’s great how the guys are getting along. Obviously, on the court, we’re producing wins, and significant wins. When we got the Cal State San Marcos win (Saturday night), away, at their place, they were 11-2. They were ranked in the West Region, and we knocked them off. We felt great about that win, and having that confidence going into practice this week, we’re hitting on all cylinders.”HSU is coming off a weekend split with an 83-73 loss to UC San Diego on Friday night, but the Jacks earned an 81-78 victory at San Marcos Saturday. At the time, the Cougars were 6-1 in conference play.The Jacks improved to 3-7 in conference and 6-10 overall after last weekend’s results.”We’re a tight-knit group on the court and in the van rides and the hotels and the flights up and down the state over the last couple weeks,” said Kinder. “It’s been amazing how we’ve come along, and it’s been a happy new year thus far.”The Broncos come into Thursday night’s matchup at Lumberjack Arena with the top record in the conference at 8-1, and with their staunch defense will present a challenge for the Green and Gold.
