Men’s Soccer Sixth In First NCAA Regional Poll

INDIANAPOLIS — The Cal Poly Pomona men’s soccer team has been ranked at No. 6 in the first official NCAA Division II West Region rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA. The Broncos (9-4-0) are looking to defend their West Region title from a season ago, and should they maintain their ranking as one of the Top 6 teams when the 38-team NCAA tournament field is announced on Nov. 5th, CPP will have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season.The announcement of the 2018 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament will come via a live selection show at NCAA.com on Nov. 5th. The NCAA will continue to release updated regional rankings at NCAA.com every Wednesday afternoon leading up to the Nov. 5th selection show.Undefeated and the No. 1 team in the nation, Simon Fraser, grabbed the top spot in the regional ranking with a 13-0-0 record against Division II opponents.  Azusa Pacific (10-1-0) checks in at No. 2, Cal State L.A. (10-1-2) at No. 3, UC San Diego (9-2-2) at No. 4 and Fresno Pacific (8-1-1) at No. 5, ahead of CPP at No. 6.  On the outside looking in, Chico State (8-3-1) is No. 7 and Cal State San Bernardino (9-4-0) is No. 8.With just four regular season matches left in 2018, all on the road, Cal Poly Pomona is currently riding a seven-match win streak and are in sole possession of second place in the CCAA standings with 21 points and a 7-1 mark against league opponents, just one point behind first-place Cal State L.A. and three points ahead of Chico State and Cal State San Bernardino, both tied for third place.  The Broncos will put their win streak on the line Friday at Cal State Monterey Bay.  Kickoff in Seaside is set for 12:30 pm.2018 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer West Region Rankings1. …
