ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State men’s soccer team heads to Stanislaus State for a Friday afternoon game beginning at 4:30 p.m. followed by a match at Chico State on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 11:30 a.m.”This coming weekend’s games against Chico and Stanislaus don’t get any easier on the road,” said Head Coach Fred Jungemann. “Ultimately it comes down to figuring out how to win games. It’s a grind trying to find a way to get a result.” Stanislaus State currently is 4-7 overall and 0-6 in conference. They are coming off a 3-0 win over Bethesda University. Prior to their most recent victory, the Warriors were riding a seven-game losing streak. In 2017, the Jacks fell to the Warriors 3-2. Humboldt State is at 10th in CCAA standings ahead of Stanislaus State at 13th. The Jacks have an all-time record of 27-26-2 against the Warriors.”Stanislaus has been competing a lot like us, close games and making opportunities, but not quite getting it done,” said Jungemann. “So it will be good competing with someone in a similar mindset, and hopefully we can get a result.”Chico State is at a 7-3-1 and holds a 4-2 conference record. The Wildcats faced UC Santa Cruz on Sunday and ended up with a 2-0 victory. Last season, HSU met the Wildcats in a competitive match that resulted in a 1-0 double-overtime loss for the Jacks. Chico State holds the fifth-place spot in 2018 CCAA standings.
