Men’s Soccer to Begin Season on Aug. 31 at Home

Men’s Soccer SchedulePOMONA, Calif. – After reaching the semifinal round of the NCAA Division II National Championships in 2017, the Cal Poly Pomona men’s soccer team will begin its 2018 campaign at Kellogg Field on Aug. 31.The Broncos went 17-6-1 last season, advancing past West Region rival Cal Baptist and three top-five teams to compete in the semifinals against No. 3 Charleston, a squad that went on to win the national title.Under the leadership of head coach Adam Reeves, CPP enters the 2018 season with an experienced senior class. All-American Nadeer Ghantous is the team’s top defender and West Region honoree Jimmie Villalobos is a Broncos’ star at the midfielder position. Another midfielder, Cyro Oliveria, also earned All-CCAA honors last year.CPP’s 2018 season opener will be against Montana State Billings with a 7 p.m. kickoff at home on Friday, Aug. 31. Two days later, the Broncos play host to defending GNAC conference champion Simon Fraser. After the set of five non-conference matches are complete, CPP will begin its California Collegiate Athletic Association schedule with a 3 p.m. road matchup at Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 19. The Broncos’ first CCAA home match of the season will be on Sunday, Sept. 23 with a 2 p.m. start time against San Francisco State. Senior Day will arrive early this year as the final regular season home match will be on Sunday, Oct. 14 against UC San Diego.On Oct. 25 in Los Angeles, CPP will take on Cal State LA. The Golden Eagles topped the Broncos in the CCAA Tournament title match before CPP went on its epic run to the NCAA Division II semifinals.
