Men’s Tennis Seeded No. 3 in CAA Championship

RICHMOND, Va. – The William & Mary men’s tennis team will be the No. 3 seed in the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Championship, the league office announced on Monday. The Green and Gold will face Drexel, the No. 6 seed, in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 18, at 1 p.m. Elon University hosts the 2019 CAA Championship at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and the Burlington Tennis Center, April 18-20.UNCW, which has won six of the last 10 CAA titles including back-to-back league titles in 2017 and 2018, is the No. 1 seed in the event followed by Elon, W&M, James Madison, Charleston, Drexel, Hofstra and Delaware. The Seahawks face Delaware at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals on Thursday, while James Madison sand Charleston square off at the same time. In the 1 p.m. quarterfinals, the Tribe, which won the 2015 CAA title, meets the Dragons, and Elon takes on Hofstra. All four quarterfinal matches will be played at the Burlington Tennis Center.
It marks the fourth-straight CAA Tournament that W&M and Drexel have met. Last season, the Tribe downed the Dragons, 4-0, in the semifinals.The CAA Semifinals are set for 2 p.m. on Friday with both matches being played simultaneously. The CAA Championship match is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. The semifinals and championship will be played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on the campus of Elon University. The winner of the CAA Championship will earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.Admission is free to all three days of the championship.
