The Case Western Reserve University men’s and women’s cross country teams both appeared in this week’s edition of the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Coaches’ Poll.After receiving votes each of the last two weeks, the CWRU men made their first appearance of the season in the national rankings, checking in at 30th-place nationally. It marks the highest the team has been ranked nationally since the final poll of 2012, when the Spartans also checked in at 30th nationally.The rise comes following the Spartans’ first-place finish at the Inter-Regional Rumble last Saturday. The CWRU men were also ranked fourth in the latest Great Lakes Regional Poll.The CWRU women, who finished second at last week’s Inter-Regional Rumble, climbed back into the top-35 nationally after receiving votes last week, checking in at 32nd in this week’s rankings. This is the third week this season that the Spartan women have appeared in the national poll, after being ranked 24th in both the week two and week three editions.The CWRU women were also fifth in the Great Lakes Region poll for the third-straight week.The Spartans are off from competition this weekend, before returning to action on Sunday, October 28th at the University Athletic Association Championships, hosted by the University of Chicago at the Dannehl Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
