Peek Scores CCAA Player Of The Week Honor

SAN RAMON, Calif. — Cal Poly Pomona sophomore forward Brian Peek has been selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 8-14, it was announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.Peek, a native of Laguna Hills, Calif., scored three goals last week to lift the Broncos to two more wins, extending their win streak to seven matches with victories over Cal State San Marcos on Friday and No. 16 UC San Diego on Sunday. In Friday’s 4-1 win over CSUSM, Peek scored the game’s first two goals in the first 22 minutes, then continued his offensive prowess in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over UCSD, scoring the first goal of the contest in the 20th minute. He also assisted on the second goal, passing back to teammate Patricio Yrizar with his heel, which directly resulted in the insurance goal for CPP in the 38th minute and securing the team’s ninth win of the year.This is the first-career CCAA Player of the Week honor for Peek, and the first for a Cal Poly Pomona player this season.  Former Bronco Sergi Monso was the last from CPP to earn the award (for the week of Oct. 9-15 of last season).With an overall record of 9-4. Cal Poly Pomona will put its seven-match win streak on the line Friday at Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside at 12:30 pm.  The Broncos are currently in sole possession of second place with 21 points and a 7-1 mark against league opponents, just one point behind first-place Cal State L.A. and three points ahead of Chico State and Cal State San Bernardino, both tied for third place.2018 CCAA Men’s Soccer Player of the WeekAug. 27-Sept. 2:  Juan Camilo Salazar, Cal State San Marcos
