RAIN WASHES AWAY ANOTHER DAY; SOFTBALL TO PLAY DOUBLEHEADER SATURDAY VS WEBER STATE

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Two days after Sacramento State had its non-conference game vs. Cal cancelled because of rain, today’s Big Sky Conference-opening doubleheader vs. Weber State has been cancelled due to inclement weather.The Hornets and Weber State were supposed to play a three-game series, beginning with a doubleheader today and single game tomorrow. However, the two teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. The third game of the series will not be played.Sacramento State finished just a half game behind defending conference champion Weber State in last year’s standings, and the two teams were selected first (Wildcats) and second (Hornets) in this year’s Big Sky preseason coaches poll. Sacramento State will bring a 10-13-1 overall record into Saturday’s doubleheader while Weber State is 16-10-1.Tomorrow’s doubleheader will open a season-long six-game homestand that will see Sacramento State host UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday followed by a three-game series against Idaho State on Friday and Saturday of next week.No makeup date for the Cal game has been announced.
