Spartan Wrestling Set to Host Lourdes and Thiel on Wednesday

The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team is set to host Lourdes University and Thiel College on Wednesday, January 10th at 6:00 p.m. in Horsburgh Gymnasium. Wednesday’s matches will follow a “throwdown” schedule that consists of three rounds.

Pre-Meet Ceremony
Prior to the start of the meet on Wednesday, CWRU will recognize their five graduating senior members – Cito Balsells, Connor Gordon, Nate Lewis, Nate Tommas and Nick Tommas.
CWRU Spartans (0-1)
Sophomore Andrew Munn, junior Brian McNamara and senior Nate Lewis paced the Spartans at the seventh-annual Waynesburg Invitational on Saturday, notching a second-place and co-third-place finishes in their respective weight classes. For the season, Munn has totaled four wins (4-1, two technical falls at 157 pounds), while McNamara (10-5, five pins at 285 pounds) and Lewis (10-2, three pins and one technical fall at 285 pounds) have each totaled 10 wins on the season.
Lourdes Gray Wolves (2-7)
Lourdes is 2-7 in dual matches during the 2017-18 campaign. Sophomore 133-pounder Tyler Roberts leads the team with 10 wins (10-4 overall) and has recorded two falls and one technical fall. In addition, freshman Ben Ferguson has added eight wins (8-6 overall) and two pins in the 285-pound class. Lourdes is coached by Dock Kelly III, who is in his second season with the squad. He is assisted by Louis Piszker.
Thiel Tomcats (2-1)
Thiel is 2-1 dual matches this season. Included in the team’s record is 1-0 mark in road matches during the campaign. The Tomcats are led by 15th-year head coach Craig Thurber. He is assisted by Matt Lowry and Tyler Hendzel.
