Sometimes our safety can be taken for granted, but Bill Daniel’s job as he sees it is to help guard against apathy. This 1985 Clemson graduate was hired for his first full-time position with the university as firefighter and paramedic a year later, launching a very successful career in public safety. He was promoted to captain, shift supervisor and ultimately to the chief position in 2001.
In this week’s podcast, Daniel speaks extensively about his 30+ years of experience and how technology has impacted the work his department does on a daily basis. He also spoke about the history of the first fire truck on campus and how it has evolved to the university providing fire and EMS service to the City of Clemson. Finally, Daniel discusses the role of his department on a growing campus, his relationship with Associate Vice President for Municipal Services Johnson Link and the impact Clemson has had on his family in this week’s podcast.
