Tarr extended, softball facility announced

The Washington softball program extended head coach Heather Tarr’s contract through 2025.

The Washington Athletic Department announced Thursday that it was extending head coach Heather Tarr’s contract through 2025, and also revealed plans to invest further in the softball program.”Coach Tarr has built Washington into a national power,” Athletic Director Jennifer Cohen said in an official statement. “She continues to set the standard for excellence in college softball and I couldn’t be more thrilled to extend her contract and have her here on Montlake leading one of the premier programs in the country.”
Tarr was hired as head coach in 2004, making her the fourth-longest tenured coach at the UW. Her new deal will see her into her third decade at the helm of the Huskies.The athletic department also announced that it had received an anonymous, private donation to fund a “Softball Performance Facility.”“I’m excited for the future of Husky Softball,” Tarr said in a statement. “Additionally, the support for and commitment to the student-athletes that comes with facility enhancements like this really shows all the great things we can do for future Huskies.”
The facility will be built into the side of Husky Stadium.
