Track & Field, Cross Country. Track & Field Concludes Action at New Mexico Classic

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Alabama men’s and women’s track & field teams wrapped up the New Mexico Classic & Multis on Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.The Crimson Tide saw sophomore Olivia Fotopoulou move on to the final of the 60 meters and junior Vanessa Clerveaux advance to the final of the 60-meter hurdles. On the men’s side, the 4×400 relay squad of freshman Matthew Likely, freshman Isaac Trevino, junior Jacopo Lahbi and freshman Skyler Bowden were less than one second away from taking the title thanks to their time of 3:10.50.Below is a closer look at Alabama’s performances on Saturday.Men’s Event Summaries4x400 Relay – The team of freshman Matthew Likely, freshman Isaac Trevino, junior Jacopo Lahbi and freshman Skyler Bowden ran the second-fastest time among collegiate relay teams. The Alabama quartet placed third overall with a time of 3:10.50, less than half of a second behind USC.Women’s Event SummariesPole Vault – Junior Lakan Taylor cleared a season-best 13-9 1/4 (4.20m) to finish seventh in the pole vault. Senior Anna Reed was just behind her in ninth with a height of 13-3 1/2 (4.05m). Junior Britainy Smith cleared 12-9 1/2 (3.90m).60 Meters (Semifinal) – Sophomore Olivia Fotopoulou was the fastest of the Tide runners in the 60 meters, dashing across the finish line in 7.47 to move on to the final.
