UCR Falls in Series-Finale at Hawaii


HONOLULU, Hawaii – UC Riverside (14-15, 4-5) ended its Sunday series-finale at Hawaii (20-12, 6-3) with an 8-to-6 advantage in hits, but wasn’t able to capitalize in a 5-0 defeat.Freshman Nathan Webb made it nine straight games with a hit to start his career in conference play, finishing 1-of-4 at the plate.Junior Matt Hardy led the way with two hits on four at bats, giving him five hits in his last two outings.While the Highlanders jumped out to an early lead in the second game of this weekend’s series, they would be the ones to fall behind early on Sunday, conceding four runs in the bottom of the first.Hawaii added another run in the fourth to make it 5-0, while UCR left five runners on base over the first five innings.The Highlanders will head to Arizona for a midweek game against Grand Canyon this Wednesday before returning home to host San Jose State for a three-game weekend series.
