UT Dallas Has Top U.S. Spot on Young University List

UT Dallas climbed to the top spot among U.S. universities less than 50 years old in Times Higher Education’s 2017 rankings. The University also ranked No. 10 in the list of Top 50 Generation X Universities.The University of Texas at Dallas is ranked No. 1 in the United States among universities founded less than 50 years ago, according to the just-released Young University Rankings report from Times Higher Education. UT Dallas ranked 21st in the world, up from No. 24 last year. The Young University Rankings, previously known as the magazine’s 150 Under 50 Rankings, include 200 institutions. The rankings use 13 performance indicators to rate research-intensive universities, with categories in:Teaching (the learning environment)Research (volume, income and reputation)Citations (research influence)International outlook (staff, students and research)Industry income (knowledge transfer) Other U.S. universities to make the list were Rush University (33), George Mason University (47), The University of Texas at San Antonio (68) and Florida International University (89). UT Dallas, established in 1969, ranked 10th in the world among the magazine’s list of Top 50 Generation X Universities — those founded between 1967 and 1985. “Although we are young, it is our mission to make UT Dallas a global force in education, innovation and research,” UT Dallas President Richard C. Benson said. “This latest survey reaffirms what we excel in — teaching, research and the transfer of knowledge to industry — and I would like to thank the students, staff, faculty and alumni for their contributions to establishing UT Dallas’ reputation and the success of the University.” Earlier this year, UT Dallas was ranked as a top public college value in surveys from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine and The Princeton Review. In fall 2016, enrollment at UT Dallas reached a new high of 26,797, up 9 percent from 2015.
