Volleyball to Start Year with Two Tournaments

2018 Volleyball SchedulePOMONA, Calif. – After finishing last season with a record of 13-12, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team will begin its 2018 campaign on Aug. 24.Returning for the Broncos this season will be 2017 CCAA Honorable Mention selection Andrea Bosnic, an outside hitter from Los Angeles. Last year, Bosnic totaled 292 kills while adding 281 digs and 32 blocks. CPP begins its 2018 season with consecutive weekends away from Pomona. On Aug. 24 and Aug. 25, the Broncos compete in Irvine at the Concordia Invitational. WIthin those two days, CPP will take on Azusa Pacific, Colorado Mesa, American International, and host Concordia.The following weekend, the Broncos travel to Oakland for the D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase hosted by Holy Names. In those four matchups, CPP goes up against Humboldt State, Hawaii Pacific, HNU and Stanislaus State.Conference play begins on Sept. 7 with a 7 p.m. first serve at Chico State. The Broncos will play their long-awaited home opener on Friday, Sept. 14 while hosting the defending North Division champion Sonoma State.The reigning West Region champs Cal State San Bernardino will host CPP on Wednesday, Sept. 26 to start a five-match road swing for the Broncos. The Coyotes visit Kellogg Arena on Oct. 12 to begin the final homestand for CPP. Senior Night this year will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 when the Broncos challenge Cal State Dominguez Hills at home. On the sidelines heading into 2018, CPP’s leadership features head coach and AVCA Hall of Fame member Rosie Wegrich alongside Associate Head Coach Traci Dahl and Program Associate Maria Dennis.
