Homecoming Means Sports, Arts and an Academy Award-Winning Actress

ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 17, 2017) — The University is gearing up for another jam-packed Homecoming weekend. From theatre, to sports, to a talk by an Academy Award winner, there’s an abundance of exciting events you won’t want to miss out on. So throw on some purple and gold and head on over to Homecoming 2017.
The events begin Friday, Oct. 20, with the FallBall at 8 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom. All students are invited to attend for great music, free refreshments and a guaranteed good time. Before that, however, head over to the Performing Arts Center to catch the production of “Almost, Maine” by John Cariani. The performance begins at 3 p.m. and the production will run all weekend.
Stop in the University Art Museum during Homecoming, to see its 50th anniversary show, “When We Were Young: Rethinking Abstraction from the University at Albany Art Collections (1967-present).” Pictured above is Max Bill’s 1975 lithograph “Four Equal Colors.”
If theatre’s not your thing but you’re looking for some Friday afternoon art, the University Art Museum will be holding its Welcome Reception at 5 p.m. where alumni, students, faculty and friends will come together to celebrate the museum’s 50th anniversary.
At 6 p.m. Friday, UAlbany’s Athletics Department will hold its Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in the SEFCU Arena. Among the inductees is Jamar Wilson of the Club Estudiantes team in Spain who played basketball at UAlbany in the early 2000s.
On Saturday, the events continue with the Homecoming football game at 3:30 p.m. at the Tom and Mary Casey Stadium, Bob Ford Field. UAlbany will face off against the Maine Black …
