As Western Michigan prepares to find their ninth president, they have reached the next stage in the process.
As of Jan. 25, the presidential search committee has begun to receive applications and credentials of interested potential candidates to succeed current president John Dunn.
According to Bill Johnston of the Board of Trustees, the committee, which is the largest in university history with 22 members, is on schedule with the entire process.
Previously the committee announced the expectations for WMU’s next president with a presidential profile which was released on the search website www.wmich.edu/presidentialsearch.
“We asked people from the Western Michigan university community to give us the input of what you would like to see in the next leadership profile of the ninth president of Western Michigan University,” Johnston said.
The leadership profile was then put together after the input of 17 community sessions. The profile was then published in higher education publications which is what the potential candidates are responding too.
There are a lot of potential candidates, and the committee hopes to have the search refined by March 23.
“it is a very sought after position, there are a lot of candidates who are responding,” Johnston said.
