WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head women’s basketball coach Ed Swanson announced the team’s 11-game non-conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The slate is highlighted by a 2017 NCAA Tournament team, four in-state rivals, and five home games inside of Kaplan Arena. Last week, the Colonial Athletic Association released the 2019 conference schedule, the complete 2018-19 schedule is available by clicking here. “Once again we have put together a challenging non-conference schedule for our team for the upcoming season,” Swanson said. “It is great to continue natural rivalries with VCU, Old Dominion, Norfolk State, and Richmond, and also playing five other teams from the Mid-Atlantic region. We also get a chance to continue the series ay Fairfield, while meeting Hartford for the first time in program history.” The Green and Gold kicks off the slate with two straight games at Kaplan Arena. The season opener is set against in-state rival VCU on Tuesday, Nov. 6. The game will be the 120th meeting between the two schools and renew the series for the first time since 2015. The final game of the homestand is against Howard on Nov. 12.
W&M hits the road for six of the next eight contests, starting with a two-game road swing. The Tribe heads to Baltimore to take on Loyola on Nov. 17 for its first road game of the season, before heading to North Carolina to play Davidson on Nov. 24.
Following a brief stop back in Williamsburg for a match-up with East Carolina for the third straight season on Nov. 27, W&M closes four of five on the road with a two game swing. The Tribe heads to the First State to play Hartford on Nov. 30. The game will serve as the first meeting between the two programs. The Tribe then closes its Connecticut trip by playing Fairfield on Dec. 2.
