Women's basketball arrives in College Park

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team arrived in College Park on Wednesday evening, as the Mountaineers make final preparations for their 2017 NCAA Championship First Round game on Friday, March 17. 

On Thursday, the sixth-seeded Mountaineers (23-10) will partake in the NCAA news conference and practice at the XFINITY CENTER before WVU takes on the 11th-seeded Elon Phoenix (27-6) on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The Mountaineers are making their 12th NCAA Championship appearance and 10th under coach Mike Carey. Sixth-seeded WVU won the Big 12 Championship title after knocking off No. 3-seed Oklahoma (82-58), No. 2-seed Texas (62-59) and No. 1-seed Baylor (77-66). 

Friday’s contest is televised on ESPN2 and will air in its entirety in the Pittsburgh region, West Virginia and North Carolina. Fans in other areas can watch the entire game by visiting WatchESPN.com or the WatchESPN app.
