NEWARK, Del. – The William & Mary women’s soccer team fell 2-0 at Delaware on Thursday night. With the decision the Tribe falls to 6-9-1, 3-4-1 in Colonial Athletic Association action, while the Blue Hens improve to 4-11-1, 3-5 in league play. Delaware jumped on the board in the ninth minute. Toni Starova was on a breakaway and fired a shot off of the post. The ball bounced right to the foot of Riley Dixon, who placed her shot inside the right post. The Blue Hens doubled its lead in the 51st minute. Against the run of play, Dani Kabat sent Dixon free down the right side of the pitch. As she charged the six-yard box, Dixon placed her low shot into the left side of the net.
W&M had a pair of solid looks in each half, but couldn’t put either away. Late in the first half, senior Arundel Miguelez turned a free kick, sent in by sophomore Page Frantz on target but it was saved. In the 63rd minute, sophomore Courtney Miles unleashed a shot from 30-yards out but it clanked off of the crossbar and to safety.
