SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State men’s wrestling team is back on the national stage. The Gators are tied at No. 25 in the the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Top 25 and Individual Rankings, presented by the United States Marine Corps.The Gators received votes earlier in the season but this marks the first time since March 2014 that the Gators have been ranked in the Top 25. SF State is tied with Kutztown. St. Cloud State is the top-ranked team in NCAA Division II.”We’re all so excited for the postseason. It’s nice to see us jump up in the rankings and to have that recognition,” said Head Coach Jason Welch. “The expectation has been heightened, and now we have a new bar to surpass.”Individually, Nathan Cervantez is back in the Top 12 individual rankings at No. 6 in the 133-pound weight class. Heavyweight Sam Alnassiri moved up from No. 11 to No. 10. Cervantez earned the RMAC Championship in his weight class while Alnassiri finished second.Up NextSF State turns its attention to the NCAA Division II Super Region 4 Championships in Las Vegas, New Mexico on Feb. 23-24.
